The purpose of "Taking the Leap" is to provide a safe (not scary) environment for teachers engage in professional development with each other.  Teachers who sign up to "Take the Leap" will utilize Twitter, Blogs, Ted, Khan Academy, YouTube, along with new discoveries on the web to learn what researchers and experts are saying about education, and to find new ideas for creative engaging lessons. The research and lesson planning that teachers will do in the class will be the model for how they will design lessons for their students in the classroom.  Teachers will use cooperative learning to explore aspects of the internet they may have never known existed or simply haven't had time to explore further.  They will create lesson plans utilizing ideas they find on the web.  They will learn how to post these plans on a blog so that teachers can see them, use them, change them, and give feedback to one another.
